David Pittenger

Introduction

David Pittenger is a retired higher education administrator and a member of the Board of Directors of The Southside Preservation and Enhancement Alliance.

Professional & Community Background

David moved to Huntington in 2008 to serve as dean of the College of Liberal Arts, initially thinking the move would be a stepping stone in his career. In short order, however, he realized he had moved home.

David and his wife, Denise, live in a 1940s home on 12th Avenue, where they have remodeled the interior and made extensive improvements to both the front and back yards.

Now retired, David is turning his attention to civic involvement and organizations dedicated to improving the Huntington community.

Connection to Southside / The Alliance

David is passionate about preserving the character and charm of the Southside. Through his service with The Alliance, he hopes to support efforts to help residents maintain their homes, preserve the neighborhood’s brick-paved streets, and ensure that major infrastructure projects, such as new bridges, reflect an aesthetic consistent with the character of the Southside.
